Stacking and pouring our main floor blocks. Pour day was pretty stressful and crazy! We started it off with waiting around for almost two hours for the first cement truck to even show up. After we finally got to pouring we were feeling pretty good because things were going smoothly. The pump truck had made it all the way around the first pass and then right at the end a doorway blew out! Luckily we had a step formed up by the door in case we had leftover cement. Well it filled the step right up and we thankfully didn’t have to clean up too much cement. After that we were on edge the rest of the pour waiting for it to blow out again. Which it did, near a window on the second pass. That one took some more time to clean up. In the end we survived the day and I’m just glad it’s in the books! We are so thankful for our family and friends who helped us out this day. You can never have enough help when it comes to cement work.

Excavation, footers, and foundation work. This took us four long months to get to this point. I’m so grateful for our family and friends who have showed up to help give us a boost when we are so burned out and exhausted. More pictures to come soon!

I can’t believe it’s already been over a year

I can’t believe it’s already been over a year since we bought our property. This is what it looked like last fall. I can’t believe how far we’ve come! I’ll post more pictures this week of our house building adventures from the past several months. We have learned so much and are so grateful for this experience to learn and grow!
